Previously, if an employee wanted to pursue a case against their employer they would have had to pay as much as £1,200. This resulted in many low-income workers not gaining Access to Justice. In July 2017 the Supreme Court – the UK’s highest court – unanimously ruled that the government was acting unlawfully and therefore employees no longer have to pay.
