Wagamama & TGI Fridays fined undisclosed sums

Two of the UK’s high profile chain of restaurants have been fined an undisclosed sum after it failed to pay workers the National Minimum Wage.

This is not the first time the hospitality sector has come under fire for this failure and almost 5,000 workers were affected this time.

A total number of 179 businesses have been fined over £1m by the government for failing to pay staff correctly, including hotel chain Marriott and Birmingham & Stoke City Football Clubs.

Employers can be fined up to twice the total shortfall in wages, subject to a maximum of £20,000 per employee.
